MMA Fighter dies in Louisville

According to a report from BluegrassMMA, amateur mixed martial arts fighter Donshay White has passed away following a fight on Saturday night in Kentucky, a bout in which the heavyweight was stopped due to unanswered strikes in the second round.

The referee, Gary Copeland, had to step into the ring two minutes and 22 seconds into the second round after White could not block a number of brutal hits. He was unresponsive immediately after the stoppage and required medical attention.

Officials with Bluegrass MMA say White collapsed backstage after the fight.

He received CPR and was transported to a nearby hospital but later died. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital, where he passed away.

The cause of death is not known at this time.

It was his first fight back since November 2015, when he knocked out Joe Johnson one round at Hardrock MMA 76.
