UGA senior outside linebackers Davin Bellamy and Lorenzo Carter have been named to the 2017 Butkus Award Watch List, The Butkus Foundation announced on Monday.

Wilson, a 5-9, 185-pound native of Charlotte, N.C., was a preseason All-ACC selection by Phil Steele's College Football Preview (2nd team return specialist) and Athlon Sports (3rd team return specialist & 4th team RB). At the conclusion of spring practice, Wilson received co-Most Improved Offensive Player honors along with wide receiver Aaron Young. In testament to his versatility, Wilson is the only active player nationally to register touchdowns covering 80 or more yards via rush, reception and return. Last season, he started 11 times and appeared in all 13 games.

The award is given annually to the nation's top linebacker.

The top returning receiver on the squad with 71 career catches for 944 yards, Samuel has scored nine career touchdowns - six on the ground, two receiving and one via kickoff return.

Formed in 1985, the Butkus Award was expanded in 2008 to honor linebackers at three levels while helping spread the word about Butkus' I Play Clean™ initiative which encourages teens to eat well, train hard, and play with attitude instead of resorting to performance-enhancing drugs. The Butkus Award is a member of the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA) which encompasses college football's most prestigious awards.

A fifth MI football player has landed on a preseason watch list. The ACC leads the conferences with 10 players, followed by the SEC with eight players, and the Big Ten with five players.
