New Laws in Indiana Taking Effect Saturday

Some had "emergency" clauses and took effect right away, while others won't phase in until next year or beyond.

One of them will put a limit on opioid prescriptions for some customers. Certain exemptions will require documentation.

Several Indiana laws take effect Saturday.

People who break a auto window to rescue a hot animal will be protected, while another law will crack down on people who use drones for voyeurism or harassment.

This includes the new gas tax where drivers will be paying an extra 10 cents at the pump to help fund road improvements.
