At long last, the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl is coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Three months after Freeform picked up a TV adaptation of Marvel's New Warriors, the cable network revealed (via The Hollywood Reporter) that Milana Vayntrub (This Is Us) and Derek Theler (Baby Daddy) will play Squirrel Girl and Mister Immortal, respectively.

Vayntrub, who played Kevin's stage partner and brief love interest on This Is Us, will play Doreen Green, a.k.a Squirrel Girl, who is a totally empowered fangirl with the incredible powers of... a squirrel.

Squirrel Girl is the show's most high-profile role, with major names like Anna Kendrick and Mae Whitman tossed into the casting mix. Joining Vayntrub and Theler are Jeremy Tardy as Night Thrasher, Calum Worthy as Speedball, Matthew Moy as Microbe and Kate Comer as Debrii.

By the looks of it, New Warriors is going to be the first Marvel series that will have an emphasis on comedy, and it will probably follow the young heroes as they try to make their place in the world of the MCU. Although Craig's superpower seems incredible, he hasn't made use of it at all-he's lazy and figures if he has all the time in the world to learn how to fight, what's the rush? Brilliant, strong, noble, and maybe a bit full of himself, Dwayne is a shameless self-promoter and entrepreneur.

2 Broke Girls' Moy will play Zack Smith (a.k.a. Microbe), a shy hypochondriac whose ability is that he can talk to germs that tell him where you've been, what you ate, and with whom you've hung out.

Robbie Baldwin, aka Speedball. Keeping secrets is not really an option around him. He's an impulsive and immature people-pleaser with a misplaced sense of confidence.

Deborah Fields, aka Debrii. Comer (The Comeback) will portray Deborah Fields/Debrii, described as a "proud, amusing and quick-witted" lesbian character with low-level telekinetic abilities that are "very low like she can move a paper cup".

Are you excited for the new Marvel series?
