Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Meets Baby Justin-Trudeau At Calgary Stampede

According to HuffPost, the Bilals are not the only Syrian refugee family to name their baby after Justin Trudeau.

The couple, who were forced to flee their home in Damascus due to the Syrian civil war, arrived in Canada in February 2016 with their two older children.

The Syrian family are not the only ones to name their baby after the Canadian prime minister. Pictures have been shared by Trudeau's official photographer Adam Scotti on Twitter showing Justin Trudeau Adam Bilal sleeping comfortably in the arms of his namesake, NDTV said. About 1,000 of them now reside in Calgary.

In an earlier interview with CBC News, Afraa said it was her husband's idea to name the baby after the prime minister.

Between November 2015, when Mr Trudeau became prime minister, and January this year, more than 40,000 Syrian refugees have been resettled in Canada. "When he says that, I smile a little bit, a small smile, then I says, 'Yes, there is no problem, it will be like a small thank you for Justin Trudeau", she told the Canadian news outlet. "PM Trudeau on holding the baby boy said, "'This is Justin-Trudeau, ' and after a while, he said, "I appreciate that you named him after my name".

Mr Trudeau has always been known for his welcoming immigration policies.

About 40,000 Syrian refugees have arrived in Canada over the a year ago, with roughly a third sponsored by Canadian citizens motivated to bring people to safety.
