Swampscott man killed in Saugus crash

Officers responding to Jefferson Avenue at Newcomb Avenue determined the dirt bike collided with a Nissan Pathfinder.

According to the Swampscott Patch on-line news site, the dirt bike and vehicle crashed near the intersection of Jefferson and Newcombe avenues in Saugus at about 8:20 p.m.

Police arrived at the scene at 8:19 p.m. and determined that a 25-year-old man from Swampscott, Massachusetts riding a dirt bike collided with a auto at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Newcomb Avenue. "My wife and the woman across the street, they're both RNs and they were doing chest compressions on him until the ambulance came", Calder said.

DiMella said a preliminary investigation revealed the dirt bike was unregistered and the man who was riding it didn't have a motorcycle license.

The children were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, according to police. Police did not release his name.
