Swansea have been left angry over the public nature of Everton's chase of Sigurdsson, who also spent two years at Tottenham, and the unsettling affect of the pursuit has led the 27-year-old to skip the club's pre-season tour of the USA.

Now it seems the Toffees are ready to offer Sigurdsson a similar deal in order to lure him from south Wales.

And in that mind, Leicester are trying to financially gazump Everton in their bid to land Sigurdsson.

The report details that the pay package is more than that of Everton, but the chance to move to Goodison Park is interesting Sigurdsson.

Sigurdsson scored nine goals and assisted 13 times during a stellar season past year.

Sigurdsson has been recognised as an attacking midfielder for most of his career and showed his flexibility last season by playing anywhere across the frontline.

The report claims Everton will offer Sigurdsson in the region of £150,000 a week, putting him level with the returning Wayne Rooney. Sigurdsson would certainly have a place in the starting line-up if he moved to the Merseyside club and could be the flawless replacement for Tottenham-bound Ross Barkley.

Foxes' boss Craig Shakespeare is aiming to improve upon last season's 12th place finish, with the club winning the Premier League the previous campaign. Koeman has been given the financial backing in the window already and they are being held to ransom over Sigurdsson's signature.
