Two killed in cleaver attack at Chinese Walmart store

The 30-year-old suspect was detained following the attack in the outlet in the city's Bao'an district, Xinhua news agency said, citing local police.

A meat cleaver-wielding attacker killed two people and injured nine others during a rampage at a Walmart in Southern China on Sunday night. The motive was not immediately known.

Jiang's family says he hails from the southwestern city of Chongqing and became a migrant worker in 2014.

Shenzhen police said that Jiang had answered questions with a clear mind and that they were investigating the crime as well as Jiang's mental state.

Sales of knives have faced stricter regulations following high-profile attacks, some of which have targeted children at or just outside kindergartens and elementary schools.
