The three-year-old child had been inside the residence, and leaned or fallen against an open window, which had a screen in it.

Passers-by came to the aid of the victim until paramedics could take the 47 year old Surrey resident to hospital.

On Friday, another toddler fell several storeys from a balcony at a Richmond apartment building.

The incidents have prompted renewed warnings from officials who say it's paramount that parents and guardians childproof windows and doors - especially during the hot summer months.

A woman is in hospital with serious injuries following a hit-and-run in North Surrey on Sunday evening. "There's lots of devices that we can buy to prevent it from opening too much", she added. The screen had given way, and the child fell through the second-story window and landed on the patio below.
