In just a few hours before its official unveiling, photos of the new BMW Z4 Concept were found on the Internet.

The teaser image reveals a new kidney grille, upswept headlight with a sharper design and sinewy body.

With its folding metal hardtop, the heavy previous-generation BMW Z4 was more of a cruiser than an out-and-out sports auto aimed at the Porsche Boxster. BMW has teamed up with Toyota for the development of the new chassis for the 2018 Z4. The top-spec model will receive a turbocharged 3.0-litre straight six while the other two will come equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-four engine. Automobile Magazine reports that BMW has ditched the folding hardtop for the Z4 and is targeting a weight of 3000 to 3200 lbs. Mechanically, the next gen Z4 is expected to arrive in three variants. BMW is apparently keeping weight down by eschewing heavy tech like rear-wheel steering, and all-wheel drive.

In the rear, we catch a glimpse of the tail lights, which appear to have sharp edges like the concept auto. Expect an M variant too which could push close to 300 odd bhp and might even feature in an upcoming Bond movie.
