Olivier Giroud came off the bench to head a late victor after Aaron Ramsey had brought Arsenal level at 3-3 following a Jamie Vardy double for the visitors. I know how important he is not only as a player but also in the group he has a big weight. "He did very well on the left when we moved him".

Olivier Giroud insisted Arsenal never gave up hope of staging a dramatic fightback as the France striker's late victor capped a thrilling 4-3 victory over Leicester in Friday's Premier League opener.

"I love the man and the player", Wenger told Sky Sports.

Wenger reassured that his compatriot Giroud will not be leaving the club this transfer window despite losing his starting role to their record summer signing Alexandre Lacazette who opened his English Premier League goal account in the match against Leicester City. Giroud is in his prime, at the top of his game.

To cap off a busy first half of the season, Welbeck tied things up after 45 minutes, scoring from close range.

"The first goal was from a short corner and we were not focused enough".

Although Danny Welbeck leveled on the stroke of halftime, Vardy restored Leicester's lead after the break.

Craig Shakespeare's side boasted numerous players, and characteristics, that saw them shock the world to win the title in 2015/16.

Leicester showed some of the form that won them the title in 2016 and helped stave off relegation last term but in the end they were undone by canny France global Giroud who has been linked with a move away from Arsenal all summer. "He doesn't want to leave and I'm happy he wants to stay".

"I feel as well that the goals we conceded, we can work together to get rid of that because one was a corner, one was a ball we lost in the build up and the third goal was on a corner again, so we conceded two goals on corners".

They have won trophies in each of their last two competitive games, beating Chelsea in the FA Cup final last season then in the season opening Community Shield at Wembley.
