Arsenal kicks-off English Premier League on a high

The lead lasted three minutes before Leicester's new signing Harry Maguire headed Marc Albrighton's cross from the left back into the middle and Shinji Okazaki nodded the ball past flailing Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech. What the game was, though, is a reminder that beyond the incessant transfer rumours and long, moody shots of Arsene Wenger staring into nothingness awaits the adrenaline rush that only a good game of football can give. We had some avoidable goals which we conceded and overall we have to work on that. You can not keep the strikers happy when they don't play.

Dare we say Giroud has become one of the Prem's most clinical finishers? "They all deserve to play".

Wenger further reiterated the point in his written press conference, describing Giroud's decision to remain with Arsenal as a "relief" and "one of the greatest days I've had in recent months".

But Wenger revealed after the dramatic clash that Giroud "decided to stay" at the Emirates and he is "really loved" at the club.

"He doesn't want to leave and I'm happy he wants to stay".

It's fantastic. I must say I opened the door for him at some stage because I know that it's important for him to play, but I don't want him to go and in the end he made a decision to stay. "Tonight we needed this win and everyone knows the first game is important for the confidence".

"I'm convinced the team is focused. When you're in hard situations you're reminded you've done it before so can do it again".

The England global, who scored twice in the game, watched helplessly as Arsenal came from 3-2 down to grab an incredible 4-3 victory over the Foxes. We executed that well.

While conceding three goals raised questions for the French boss, he believes his side can correct those mistakes moving forward.

"When teams make substitutes just before corners it's confusing".

"We were quite good a year ago on corners".

Looking to strengthen their defence, the Foxes have signed Hull City defender Harry Maguire and Sevilla defensive midfielder Vincente Iborra and Arsenal will definitely be tired of their towering presence. I wanted some Premier League, British experience.

The veteran goalkeeper's night didn't get any better.
