He didn't look much out of place when called upon during pre-season and even started Chelsea's first match of the season but Boga's brief run in the first-team was mainly due to the overshadowing dearth of depth and fitness among the club's attacking players.

The midfielder has been at Stamford Bridge since 2003, and made his debut in the club's Premier League opener against Burnley.

Jeremie Boga will spend the season on loan under veteran manager, Harry Redknapp, at Birmingham City after signing a new three-year-deal with Chelsea.

"The talented and tricky Boga has helped us to win the Under-21 Premier League, the FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League, and has previously enjoyed loan spells in France and Spain".

"The 20-year-old midfielder made his Chelsea debut on the opening day of the Premier League season after impressing during our pre-season tour of Asia, and making his worldwide debut for Ivory Coast earlier this summer".

Boga, an Ivory Coast worldwide, has largely operated in the No 10 role for Chelsea's youth sides as well in loan spells at French side Rennes and Granada in Spain over the last two seasons.

Boga was born in Marseille to Ivorian parents, but joined the Blues academy at the age of 11 when his family relocated to London.

He was capped by France at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-19 level, but committed to Ivory Coast five months ago and made his debut for them in June.
