Conte led Chelsea to the title in his first season in English football and his win ratio of 79 per cent is the best of any manager in the history of the Premier League.

Alvaro Morata nearly inspired a comeback as a second-half substitute, scoring before setting up a late strike for David Luiz, a goal that came after Cesc Fabregas' removal for a second yellow had seen Chelsea reduced to nine men.

"I thought the referee was fantastic, to handle the occasion, the stadium, the decisions, my staff tell me he's got them right".

Costa was often praised last season not as Chelsea's top scorer and biggest goal threat, but as the "point of reference" for the entire attack.

"If we are able to stay in the game, then anything can happen in the second half, but instead we conceded three goals".

In a very revealing interview with MARCA, Alvaro Morata admits the amount of money that Chelsea paid for him is very high, and that with that money comes heavy criticism. They're 3-0 down, have a go! "But our first half, we kept losing our heads".

"Did we expect this situation?"

David Silva fed Sergio Aguero to run through and beat goalkeeper Mathew Ryan and five minutes later Lewis Dunk headed Fernandinho's cross into his own net.

Morata had just 30 minutes to somehow help spark a revival from three-goals down and pulled one back in the 70th minute with a neat header, diving in to nod Willian's cross into the far corner.

Britos was standing nearly on the line before nudging in the loose ball after Simon Mignolet pushed it onto the bar. It's obvious because the linesman is on the line.

Chelsea's pre-season has had echoes of Mourinho's final summer at the club with Conte criticisng the board for their lack of success in the transfer market.

NAN also reports that Wayne Rooney scored the winning goal on his top-flight return to Everton after 13 years.

Egyptian defender Ahmed Hegazi, on loan to West Bromwich Albion from Al Ahly, scored on his debut in the 1-0 win at home to Bournemouth. Everybody's having fun though, which is always nice to see and they even got to 30 passes on the last one shown.
