Chelsea Manager Antonio Conte essentially admitted that the decision to sell midfielder Nemanja Matic to Manchester United was out of his hands.

The Serbia global joined former Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho at Manchester United for £40 million.

"I am only 19-years-old and still have a lot to learn and therefore getting the opportunity to play more games on a regular basis will help my development". "I had the benefit of realising how good he is when he's playing just in front of you, on and off the ball", said the England worldwide to Sky Sports on Wednesday.

The former Red Devils midfielder told Paddy Power: "Some people have said that they can't believe Chelsea let Matic go to United, and that they've handed them the title, but I don't see that". You've got to understand what the club is all about. He is probably the best in England alongside N'Golo Kante.

The Serb, a key component in the Blues' two Premier League title triumphs in the past three seasons, joined United in a surprise £40 million move last month. All of a sudden United are in the driving seat ahead of Chelsea to win the Premier League.

However, the arrival of Nemanja Matic from champions Chelsea is expected to allow the Frenchman more freedom on the pitch to exert a greater influence in the final third of the pitch.

However, and despite Conte's persistent grumblings about the lack of depth in his squad, the Serbian enforcer has not only left Chelsea, but also strengthened the ranks of a direct rival in Man United. Is Tiemoue Bakayoko, a £35million signing, a similar type of player to Matic?

"Bakayoko has not and I saw him in the Champions League previous year".

"It takes time, I know that from experience of going to United at a young age".
