Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich splits from wife

Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich and his wife of 10 years, Daria Zhukova, have separated, reports say. They are going to bring together their common son and daughter up together.

Zhukova and Abramovich, who is ranked number 139 in the Forbes magazine list of the world's richest people, have two children together.

Abramovich and Zhukova explained to the publication that they meant to jointly bring up their 7-year-old son Aaron and 4-year-old daughter Leya.

Zhukova, the former girlfriend of Russian tennis legend Marat Safin, first met Abramovich at a party in NY. From 2001 to 2008 he was the governor of Chukotka, from 2008 to 2013 - the chairman of the Duma of the Chukotka Autonomous District.

In 2003, he bought the Chelsea Football Club and, according to the Daily Mail, has invested over ·3 bln (around $4 bln) in it.

Abramovich divorced his second wife Irina Malandina in 2007 after a marriage lasting 16 years. Abramovich and Zhukova have two children and together founded the Garage, Russia's most prominent modern museum of modern art.

Zhukova was called "Abramovich's girlfriend" in the press for a long time.
