Country music star Chris Young has pledged to donate $100,000 towards relief efforts aimed at victims of Hurricane Harvey on Sunday.

Young's donation through his foundation will benefit the Red Cross and other disaster relief groups.

In addition to making a $100,000 donation to the American Red Cross, he's started a GoFundMe page with a goal of $500,000.

Within less than 24 hours of creating the account through the charitable start-up company's site, Young received more than $43,000 from 609 pledgers to give back to Houston and the surrounding communities for all of their losses, both personally and structurally.

Young says he is anxious about the people still in the Houston area.

I have friends and family there, and I am fairly positive my house down there may have to be torn down as it was in one of the hardest hit areas by wind and flooding, but that's the least of my concerns. "Like I said my friends, family, neighbors, and I want to help", he said. "In Texas, we love you", Young said. "In times like these, you turn to your friends to help those in need and that is exactly what I'm doing". I hope you will donate.

"As everyone knows, Texas was hit Friday by Hurricane Harvey which made landfall as a category four hurricane, the largest storm to hit the area in decades", said Chris. The storm brought up to 20 inches of rain in some areas of the Southeastern region of the state, leaving thousands of homes without any power and completely flooded to capacity.
