Cubs put Koji Uehara on DL, recall Justin Grimm

After being removed from Tuesday's game against the San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs reliever Koji Uehara has been placed on the 10-day disabled list.

In his place, the Cubs have recalled right-handed reliever Justin Grimm from Triple-A Iowa.

The 42-year-old Uehara is now in the midst of his first season in the "Windy City" as a member of the defending World Series champion Cubs.

Uehara, who is playing for his fourth team since moving to the majors in 2009, is 3-4 with two saves and a 3.55 ERA in 43 games this season. Over the course of an even 38 innings of work, he has produced a 3.55 ERA alongside a almost even 3-4 record, two saves, 13 holds and three blown saves. Grimm has a 5.18 ERA in 36 appearances for the Cubs in 2017.

For his big league career as a whole, Uehara now owns a respectable 2.61 ERA in addition to 95 saves, 80 holds, 18 blown saves, 567 strikeouts and 77 walks.
