Dead Vega 64 GPU Found In AMD Radeon RX Vega Box

The Sapphire RX Vega 64 Liquid Cooled will be going on sale starting the 14th of August and that is the same date when the embargo will be lifted.

TechGage received their Radeon RX Vega 64 in a lovely package, with the reference air version and its RX 480 style design. This is not the first time AMD has done this, as previous year they included a defunct Fiji GPU inside of their Radeon Pro Duo package. The GPU looks very identical to the RX Vega 64 limited edition. According to the MSRP from AMD the GPU is supposed to cost $699 but as we have seen with other GPUs the price is higher. As you can see, the press kit was quite an elaborate affair, similar to what AMD sent us for the Ryzen Threadripper launch, and there were still plenty of goodies inside including a plexiglass cube with a "floating" 3D Vega logo inside.

As of today, AMD noted that RX Vega 56 cards have been shipped to reviewers, along with a request that reviewers specifically "prioritize coverage" of RX Vega 56 over RX Vega 64 under time-constrained conditions.

Since reviewers already got samples, it does not come as a big surprise that some 3DMark results already ended up online, showing that the RX Vega 64 performance is somewhere around the GTX 1080, just as we wrote earlier.
