Dera chief verdict: Police, paramilitary deployed in Delhi

The Deputy General of Police (DGP), BS Sandhu, while addressing the media said, "The situation in Panchkula district is under control".

Delhi Police on Friday assured that the situation is under control in the Capital, saying that the adequate security arrangements were in place to deal with any eventuality.

A high alert was sounded on Friday night which continued till Saturday with senior police officers being accompanied by the reserve forces patrolling in different areas, said DCP Madhur Verma, the PRO of Delhi police.

Verma further said, "We have imposed Section 144 in all district of Delhi except Central district and North district". An alert was also sounded on the outskirts of Delhi in Ghaziabad and Noida where Section 144 was imposed.

New Delhi, Aug 25 The police imposed prohibitory orders on most parts of Delhi today in the wake of violence in the city and in neighbouring Haryana over the conviction of self-styled godman Guru Ram Rahim in a rape case. Sources in the police department stated that Section 144 would continue to be imposed in Delhi till September 8. It will not affect normal day to day life. "The prohibitory orders will remain in place for miscreants and in no way will the common man be affected". "It will be reviewed as per the situation", Mr Verma said. We also requested the people to maintain peace and cooperate with us.

The violence took place in other parts as well on Friday, following the court order on Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. "Strict legal action will be taken against miscreants for any violation", he tweeted. Praveen Khanna A burnt bus in Loni , As Reported By IE.

Overall, an official at the Delhi Fire Services said they had received complaints of arson from nine locations including Anand Vihar, Khayala, Jahangirpuri and Badarpur.
