Giroud confirms Arsenal stay after opening-day victor

"The season started with a attractive game which met all expectations".

The Gunners' big money signing from Ligue 1 outfit Lyon leads the line at the Emirates Stadium as Arsene Wenger has opted to stick with the 3-4-2-1 formation that has served the side so well since switching to it back in April.

'We wanted to do that today - unfortunately that didn't happen and it's something where we can look back and analyse the game and see where we went wrong and improve on the situation'.

'Previously in the Premier League we've not got off to the best of starts, so it meant a lot for us to get a good start and get three points today.

"The second goal was scored after a poor pass, which can happen, but we conceded the other two after corners".

Really? I think that is a bit over the top.

"And as long as I get that he'll be considered for selection and I have no qualms about picking him against Arsenal".

The goal also continued Lacazette's phenomenal record in the first game of top-flight seasons over recent years - one he might need to add to after Leicester forwards Shinji Okazaki and Jamie Vardy turned the game on its head. "We have to pay attention to this".

The Frenchman and fellow substitute Aaron Ramsay scored in the final seven minutes as Arsenal twice came from behind, the Welshman levelling two minutes before Giroud headed the decider.

The relieved gaffer said: "It's impossible to keep all the strikers happy when they don't play, but we have many games and hopefully I can give them all a good number of games".

Lacazette is the seventh Arsenal player to score on his first Premier League appearance.
