Gov. McAuliffe to President Trump: Don't Visit Charlottesville if Dividing Rhetoric Continues

This was a very volatile situation.

However, Virginia State Police spokesperson Corinne Geller told Reason magazine that no such weapons caches were discovered. The mainstream media has done a good job reporting on the events in Charlottesville, but this is a crucial detail that they have ignored seemingly in favor of chasing the madness that has been Donald Trump's reaction to this mess (to be fair, McAuliffe probably should have also said this in a press conference instead of burying it in a podcast). "No weapons were located as a result of those searches".

When asked if Confederate statues, like the Robert E. Lee statue in Charlottesville at the center of the white supremacist rally that sparked Saturday's violence, should be taken down across the country, the governor supported that move, calling the monuments "divisive symbols".

"No, the State Police did not have inferior equipment". "I can assure you that the Virginia State Police personnel were equipped with more-than-adequate specialized tactical and protective gear for the goal of fulfilling their duties to serve and protect those in attendance of the August 12 event in Charlottesville".

"The governor was referencing the weapons and tactical gear the members of various groups attending the rally had on their persons", Geller said. "They had the necessary inventory and gear that they needed for this event".

"These folks came armed, and our biggest concern is that shots would be fired".

"If you see people yesterday walking down the street yesterday with semi-automatic rifles strapped to their body", he said.

He added, "Those remarks are dividing people; we can not be dividing people".

"I'm very proud, except for, put the vehicle incident aside, no one went to the hospital", McAuliffe said. Not one shot was sacked. "Let us work together for reconciliation, let us go forward to bring our nation back to together again, '" McAuliffe said on "CBS This Morning" on Thursday.
