Grichuk, DeJong Homer to Lead Cards Past Braves

The St. Louis Cardinals continued their winning ways Saturday night at Busch Stadium, but by the slimmest of margins with a 6-5 win over the Atlanta Braves.

Paul DeJong hit two doubles and drove in three runs and Randall Grichuk drove in two and scored twice for the Cardinals. DeJong's shot led off the seventh and was his 17th.

After getting Ender Inciarte to strike out, carpenter then walked Brandon Phillips to load the bases.

Martinez gave up three earned runs and seven hits over six innings.

Trevor Rosenthal picked up his 11th save in 13 tries.

Tyler Lyons chipped in with two innings of scoreless relief.

Adam Wainwright improved his record to 12-5 going five innings allowing just one run on four hits.

Dexter Fowler added two hits for St. Louis and Kolten Wong extended his hitting streak to seven games with a fifth-inning single.

Carlos Martinez (9-9) got the win for the Cardinals, surviving a two run first for Atlanta that was capped off by Kurt Suzuki's two run single. Hall of Fame shortstop Ozzie Smith threw out the first pitch to outfielder Willie McGee.

St.Louis has either won or tied each of its last eight home series.
