On Saturday, defensive end Derek Wolfe had be carted off the field with an ankle injury and couldn't put weight on it, according to ESPN's Jeff Legwold.

Wolfe, a leader and a versatile inside force, appeared to tangle legs with starting right tackle Menelik Watson on a running play moments after team drills started.

Losing Wolfe, their best defensive lineman, would have struck a major blow to a defense looking to improve significantly against the run. "So, you've got to have a guy like him to be able to anchor us".

Broncos back to work for their final training camp practice open to fans. "He's a big key for our defense and also a good friend of mine".

Denver Broncos defensive tackle Adam Gotsis. Outside linebackers Shane Ray (wrist) and Shaquil Barrett (hip) aren't expected back until the start of the regular season or later.
