Hendricks led the Oilers past year with a 56.9% winning percentage (132 of 232 draws).

The Winnipeg Jets signed center Matt Hendricks to a one-year, $700,000 contract Saturday.

Hendricks, 36, spent the last four seasons with the Oilers, amassing 20 goals, 18 assists and 245 penalty minutes in 214 games. In 42 games last season, he produced a paltry seven points and added 29 penalty minutes to top it all off. The 2016-17 campaign was the second consecutive season in which Hendricks led the Oilers in faceoff percentage. The Oilers' management team considered Hendricks to be a great locker room presence, but his reputation as a gritty support player is unlikely to comfort fans of the Jets, who may see his presence as a roadblock in the development of some of their younger players fighting to make the starting lineup.

Prior to Edmonton, Hendricks played half a season with the Predators, three seasons with the Washington Capitals and two more with the Colorado Avalanche.

Hendricks has 100 points (49 goals, 51 assists) and 664 penalty minutes in 521 National Hockey League games with the Colorado Avalanche, Washington Capitals, Nashville Predators and Edmonton. In these 521 games, he has tallied 100 points and 664 penalty minutes while maintaining a faceoff percentage of almost 54%.
