Long Island police make arrest in Hempstead triple homicide

Nassau cops are searching for a "person of interest" in what they described as the targeted killings of three women in a Hempstead home. Three of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene and the surviving victim is being treated.

Nassau County and Hempstead Village police investigate the scene of what police called a triple homicide on Perry Street in Hempstead on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017. According to the parents of one of the victims, the incident unfolded at about 3 a.m., as two women were visiting a friend at the home.

The victims were identified as his mother, Lynn Reichenbach-Vanderhall, sister, Melissa Vanderhall and a family acquaintance, Janel Simpson. She is in stable condition at a local hospital. The women sustained blunt force trauma to their bodies, said LeBrun.

The attack is "possibly domestic", a law enforcement source with knowledge of the incident said.
