The U.S. Border Patrol is continuing their effort to curb illegal immigration.

The subject was offered and declined medical attention.

"This is a great example of how effective our agents are at identifying and interdicting cross border traffic in remote areas of the border", said Border Patrol Division Chief John South.

Agents on a routine patrol on Interstate 15 found the vehicle was connected to a murder and human smuggling suspect who was likely to be armed, according to Border Patrol Agent Tekae Michael.

Two agents were patrolling near Deer Springs Road when they made a decision to run the license plate of a black GMC Envoy about 1:05 p.m., Border Patrol Agent Tekae Michael said. In an attempt to evade apprehension, the driver veered off the road and struck a utility pole.

When agents inspected the vehicle, they found 75 bundles of marijuana, which weighed 1,351 pounds. The group was seen walking on a trail when agents apprehended them without incident, according to the release. The seizure, estimated to be worth more than $1,000,000, was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration, according to the release. All the subjects admitted to being illegally present in the United States.

In the afternoon, Kingsville agents were told of human remains discovered by a ranch manager. A Honduran identification was located near the deceased subject.
