Less than six months after viewers watched Nick Viall's proposal to Vanessa Grimaldi on season 21 of The Bachelor, the reality stars have split. Now, the Bachelor duo confirms that they have ended their engagement. News they had broken up and ended their engagement, adding that they are parting ways "with lots of love and admiration for each other".

But it's possible the relationship was over a while ago.

They were returning from what should have been a romantic getaway in Puerto, Vallarta, Mexico, but a witness told Us Weekly that they "didn't exchange five words the entire flight". They also admitted that it was not an easy decision for them.

Another sign of trouble? The record for shortest Bachelor engagement, however, belongs to Jason Mesnick, who dumped his season's victor the night their season finale aired and subsequently married runner-up Molly Malaney.

Although Nick and Vanessa were apparently spending a lot of time together in Los Angeles in recent months, the couple was plagued by rumors they were headed for a split. He previously finished as the runner-up in both Andi Dorfman and Kaitlyn Bristowe's seasons of The Bachelorette before going on to Bachelor in Paradise previous year.

Finally, as the star in "The Bachelor", he chose Grimaldi over runner-up Raven Gates, and proposed to Grimaldi with that diamond ring. To their credit, they have never claimed that everything was rosy between them.

"Like Vanessa and I have said, it's too early for us right now".

Sometimes being on "DWTS" can be hard on a relationship considering how hard you have to work, but they made it through that part just fine.
