According to the source, trouble ensued when the Biafran flags, caps, shirts and other items being sold by some youths were seized and burnt by the security operatives.

Despite the heavy presence of security in the area, the IPOB members were still parading the area, singing and chanting Biafran songs.

Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mrs Nkeiru Nwode who confirmed that security operatives were on ground at Ekwulobia, however, denied the death of any IPOB member.

"With IPOB they have failed woefully because our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will be in Ekwulobia Aguata LGA of Anambra State on Sunday to commiserate with the families of the victims of the latest outrage carried out by the Nigerian Police".

Pereotubo noted that the Ijaw leader only cautioned Kanu not to further marginalise the Igbos by asking them to boycot the November governorship election in Anambra State.

Chukwu said the police had deployed personnel of the Explosives Ordinance Department (EOD) to sanitise the affected area.Konduga Local Council headquarters, 40 kilometres from the state capital, had been attacked by Boko Haram insurgents for over two dozen times to infiltrate Maiduguri metropolis.

He said "This overzealousness of Nigerian army and police against the non-violenct and armless Biafra agitators speaks volume of rejection, subjection, marginalisation and annihilation plan of Nigerian security agencies against the industrious people of Biafra".

"The police with other security agencies on joint patrol went to the scene, dispersed and cleared the road peacefully without any clash".

IYC led by Oweilaemi Pereotubo, said Kanu should watch his tongue or risk its anger. The presence of the security men was to secure the place from people being attacked by hoodlums.
