There's a lot in this No Man's Sky update and more details can be picked up on the Hello Games site along with the full patch notes.

The mention of joint exploration is what fans are getting excited about, as the game was supposed to ship with multiplayer functionality, with the developer saying that finding other players would be unlikely due to the vast distances between them, but it would not be impossible.

From what we saw, Update 1.3, otherwise known as Atlas Rises, will feature an "overhauled central story line, portals, a new procedural mission system, trade improvements, system economies, joint exploration and more".

"Atlas Rises" will be a free update for everyone who owns "No Man's Sky". "In the last eight weeks a quarter of a million players from across the globe (174 countries, to be precise!) have come together - united by a shared love of mystery and science fiction - to form the Citizen Science Division", said creator Sean Murray in a statement".

However, over the year, Hello Games has been working throughout the year to fix the damage that has been done to their reputation by giving more improvements and updates.

Most interesting, though, is the multiplayer, dubbed "Joint Exploration". Fans should not have too long to wait and find out. At the time, we knew that this update would add a Stargate style fast travel system and make changes to the story. The past couple of months have seen an ARG leading up to today.

At roughly 1 am United Kingdom, a password protected page was put up on the No Man's Sky website containing the 1.3 Patch Notes. It's Friday, so time is running out for it to appear this week.
