Atlanta rapper Big Boi has given a puppy to a little girl who was paralyzed from the waist down after being shot while playing in a bounce house near the city earlier this year.

After hearing about the incident, Outkast's Big Boi learned the girl had wanted a dog since before the shooting.

"My brother saw her story that morning and was like, bro, we've got to do something for this little girl", Patton said.

Big Boi's passions are music and the bulldogs he breeds at Pitf Fall Kennels.

"What are you going to name your puppy?" The Atlanta native has chose to cover the girl's medical bills, and pay for her to have a wheelchair ramp, reports the Atlanta-Journal Constitution. The 5-year-old finished three months of therapy last week.

Now, she has a dog to call her own. "She doesn't complain. She's always got a smile on her face", her mother, Andreauna Douglas, told Atlanta's CBS affiliate, WSB-TV.

"She's been asking for it for the longest and I know that a puppy that she can take care of and now she has responsibility, it's going to do nothing but help her", Douglas told Wilson. And to see how strong she is now, that was just like, oh my goodness, definitely inspiring.

Big Boi is also bringing some magical joy into Ellis' life by giving her a puppy so that she can have a functional companion as she continues her recovery.

Big Boi has promised Ellison and her mother that he will cover any veterinary expenses for the dog and that he will pay Ellison's medical bills not covered by the money raised on a GoFundMe page.
