Gunners legend Paul Merson predicted a challenging campaign for Arsenal this season, when writing his column for Sky Sports, but came up with a novel idea for his former side, if they are to stand a chance of being successful in the Premier League.

They finished on fifth position in the league last season but won the FA Cup after beating Chelsea 2-1 in the final.

"Alexandre Lacazette is a proven goalscorer", Owen told the Premier League's official website when asked who will win the golden boot.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, Wenger revealed he has never been a fan of the rule, he said: "I was always against it".

Wenger is a man of principles and isn't afraid to share them, but these comments once again reflect an attitude that, over and over again, precipitates a kind of steady mediocrity that tears the club's fanbase apart.

They've named who they think will win the Premier League and each of the cup competitions as well - as which teams they reckon will be relegated.

"You can not go into the season and think that [you will get Champions League qualification from winning the Europa League]".

"I always was not in favour of that, because I think at some stage it can influence on the championship".

"I will always play a team that has a good chance to win the next game", Wenger added.

Arsenal will begin their quest for the 2017-18 league title this Friday against former champions, Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium.

Chelsea are still short in a couple of areas ahead of their Premier League title defence and should consider dipping back into the transfer market, says Frank Lampard. I don't know. But they will fight certainly for the championship again.
