The previous six men all had great stories, but as has been said many times, Warner has one of the best stories in the history of sports.

"Steve Atwater, Jason Elam, Rod Smith, (owner) Pat Bowlen", he said, reeling off the names.

"My regular season stats were good, but I don't know if I'd be here if that's all I had going for me", Davis said. You can check out Tomlinson's full speech here.

After revealing that he is the descendant of a slave, Tomlinson - the former Chargers star running back - offered himself up as an example of what can happen when people are given a chance, regardless of their background.

The group included an owner, a quarterback, two running backs, a pass rusher, a hard-hitting safety and a kicker.

Kudos to him speaking out with a spirit to make a difference.

"There's been so many insane turns to it that one person comes in and goes, 'I think it's gotta end with the Super Bowl championship.' And then another person comes and goes, 'But how do we leave out the whole second chapter (Arizona) that's as good as the first one?' And now you have the Hall of Fame". As those words are spoken, a soccer team picture is shown, with one player highlighted. My great-great-great grandfather had no choice. I pray we dedicate ourselves to being the best team we can be, working and living together, representing the highest ideals of mankind.

As head injuries and CTE have been thrust to the forefront of the NFL, Class of 2017 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Terrell Davis expressed concern about his future health. Like Tomlinson, he had an award-winning year in 2006 when he was named Defensive Player of the Year.

T.I., the rapper whose music blared through Tomlinson's headphones before games for the bulk of his National Football League career with the San Diego Chargers, was the featured performer. He reflected the human spirit that extends beyond the field. And talk about the company you keep - Jim Brown is the other back to achieve that feat.

The problem with the video is that there was one slight mistake. Tomlinson used the platform to share a message about unity. All that stuff is helping the game of football. "Football is a microcosm of America, all races, all creeds competing, side by side". To an extent, that notion sells. Tomlinson also spoke about how his mom was influential to his career.

From an all-time great guard in Green Bay to a mainstay on a dominant 70s-era Steelers defenses, here are the top 15 Pro Football Hall of Fame candidates for 2018.

He said he lived the American dream after growing up in Denmark, "the birthplace of famous Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen". But the carnage affecting young black men today from random violence to police shootings across this nation has to stop. I forgot that the late great Al Davis attended Syracuse University.

There is speculation, however, that he hasn't yet been voted in because of what he did off the field, where he was a divisive and controversial figure who often served as a locker-room distraction.
