Sonia Gandhi slams Modi govt, raises concern over raise of self-vigilantism

The meeting, to be chaired by Congress President Sonia Gandhi, will be held a day before the special sitting of the two houses of parliament to mark the anniversary of Quit India Day.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President Dr G Parameshwara, Working President Dinesh Gundu Rao and legislators of the party have been asked to wear white clothes and participate in the rally. During the meet, the Congress highlighted the role it played during the movement and the country's freedom struggle.

It might be noted that Mahatma Gandhi launched the Quit India Movement on August 8 1942 at the Bombay Session of the All India Congress Committee demanding the British to leave India.

The students of different schools in Warangal have taken out a rally marking the 75th anniversary of Quit India Movement, also known as the August Movement on Tuesday.

The "Quit India Movement", was remarkable for the unprecedented, spontaneous, mass participation of all sections of the Indian People: Students, Women, Workers, Peasants, Government Officials and even Industrialists showing enormous courage despite the severe repression by the British Government.

Meanwhile, members of the Youth Congress in Patna also burnt the effigy of Modi and BJP national President Amit Shah to condemn attack on the vehicle of Rahul Gandhi.

Bangles (Churiya) are considered as a sign of weakness in India.

"Congress must always defend the liberty and freedom of individual and institutions".
