The "Sunday Brunch" star is the seventh famous name announced to be taking to the ballroom when the BBC One series returns to screens this autumn and is "excited, terrified, and proud" to be taking part.

CHEF Simon Rimmer will be waltzing out of the kitchen and onto the dancefloor after he was confirmed as the latest contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.

The presenter, chef and Liverpool FC fanatic announced the news on Sunday Brunch this morning.

Simon revealed how he has never danced before, and is taking Pilates classes to help get him in shape.

Simon, who has no dancing experience, says about joining Strictly: "Nobody will try harder, have more fun or get more out of it than me".

However, after leaving fans in anticipation, they finally announced the huge news towards the end of the show. When I put on my sequins and hit the floor it will genuinely be my very first time dancing ballroom and latin.

"Spray tan and sequins are the thing I'm most looking forward to", Simon told his co-host Tim Lovejoy, who presented his pal with a tin of "Sunday Brunch fake tan" to celebrate. Richard Coles and Joe McFadden in his fight to lift the Glitterball trophy.

As per previous years, this full lineup will be revealed over the course of the next fortnight.

The stars will battle it out for the title of Strictly Come Dancing victor, which was claimed by BBC Sports presenter Ore Oduba past year.
