On Tuesday, Trump asserted that he will respond with "fire and fury" to North Korea, which he previously said "is behaving in a very unsafe manner, and something will have to be done about it.and probably dealt with rapidly".

And, when Trump attacked the "FAKE NEWS media", which he proclaimed "the enemy of the American People", Pence swabbed the decks, saying: "Rest assured, both the president and I strongly support a free and independent press".

Former President Jimmy Carter has released a statement online in which he criticizes the White House's lack of effort towards finding a peaceful solution to the increasing hostile North Korea.

The United States operates two radar systems in Japan and one in Korea, which along with satellite surveillance would pick up any North Korean launch quickly, Karako said, and would transmit that data to Guam which also houses the advanced radar. Aside from military force, scenarios range from a new round of peace talks to more aggressive actions like intercepting ships suspected of selling North Korea weapons overseas, one of the regime's key sources of income.

While Washington's next steps are not clear, it looks increasingly likely that the two-decade USA policy of "strategic patience" towards Pyongyang may now be over.

The harsh rhetoric from Washington and Pyongyang during recent months has exacerbated an already confrontational relationship between our countries, and has probably eliminated any chance of good faith peace talks between the United States and North Korea. He is the secretary of state, that means you don't understand what the words secretaries of state means.

The U.S. military is rounding up immigrants? The regime added to the tensions with its threat Wednesday to launch a missile strike on the United States territory of Guam in the Pacific.

Trump presented the threats of war, which have included a nuclear component, as "sticking up for the people of this country", and insisted North Korea should be "very nervous" and needs to "get their act together" if they want to avoid America's wrath. Sooner or later someone should take them seriously. Pyongyang says it will be ready to send its missile launch plan to Kim for approval just before or as the drills begin. See the millions of cars they sell in the U.S.?

Trump also brushed away calls for caution from other world leaders, including Germany's Angela Merkel. "But I think what the President was just reaffirming is the United States has the capability to fully defend itself with any attack, will defend our allies, and we will do so".

"Let her speak for Germany", Trump said, when asked about the comment.

"Hopefully it'll all work out", Trump said.
