Other footage shown in court shows a woman sunbathing naked in her garden, two naked naturists sitting outside their caravan and a couple lying naked on sun-loungers outside their home.

Pogmore, of Guilthwaite Crescent, Whiston, Rotherham, knew the couple through the wife-swapping scene and had even previously had sex with the woman.

He has been sacked by South Yorkshire Police.

Prosecutors said the officer was "a swinging and sex-obsessed air observer" who was referred to as the "team deviant" by other members of the air support unit at South Yorkshire Police at the time. But his other victims were unaware they were being filmed and told the police they felt their privacy had been invaded.

"In short, you used a £2 million helicopter which costs something like £1,000 (US$1,300) an hour to run to advance your own sexual curiosities when it should have been detecting crime", said Judge Kelson.

The videos were shot between 2007 and 2012.

Pogmore, who recorded all of the footage, was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court on Tuesday, with Judge Peter Kelson QC telling him: "You, quite literally, considered yourself above the law".

"Instead of deterring and detecting crime, you were committing crime".

The judge described Pogmore as a "rogue police officer" whose actions had been "offensive and invasive".

The videos were not discovered until March 2015, when the tapes were found in a drawer Pogmore used at a police station.

Speaking after the verdicts, a South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said disciplinary proceedings would continue against the police officers involved in the trial despite the not guilty verdicts.
