Undaunted by tensions, Chinese tourists flock into North Korea

"At the same time, if the United States strikes first and starts war on the Korean Peninsula, China and other countries, including Russia, Japan and South Korea, will be against it".

In an editorial, The Global Times said China should make it clear to both sides: "when their actions jeopardize China's interests, China will respond with a firm hand".

Before proceeding, the USA should launch emergency programs, on the scale and intensity of the World War II Manhattan Project that developed the first A-Bombs, to strengthen missile defenses and protect the American people from the worst consequences of a nuclear attack by hardening the national electric grid against electromagnetic pulse (EMP).

Now that North Korea is recognized by the intelligence community and policymakers alike as a clear and present danger to the USA mainland-armed with ICBMs capable of blasting American cities with atomic warheads, possibly with much more powerful thermonuclear warheads in 6-18 months-what can we do?

Last month, Pyongyang conducted two tests of intercontinental ballistic missiles.

At the end of July, North Korea test-fired an improved intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), a Hwasong-14, that could strike the USA mainland, purportedly, as far east as Chicago. This promising anti-missile program was canceled by the Clinton Administration in favor of President Clinton's Agreed Framework and its policy of appeasement, which ultimately resulted in today's North Korean ICBMs. Since North Korea conducted its first nuclear test in October 2006, the United Nations Security Council has issued, strengthened and expanded sanctions against Pyongyang eight times.

President Donald Trump and China's President Xi Jinping in July. The eastern power is also concerned that Japan might acquire nuclear weapons.

The US State Department has announced a ban on all Americans from traveling to North Korea following the death of US college student Otto Warmbier who passed away in June 2017 after 17 months in North Korean captivity.

China's tourism authority has not published a breakdown of the total number of Chinese visitors to North Korea since 2012, when it said 237,000 made the trip. In the current situation a little spark can ignite a fire in the region.

China, Russia, and North Korea don't think so.

Foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang called on both sides to avoid "alternately showing strength and continuously escalating the situation". At the same time, the prospect of disintegration or chaos in North Korea evokes at least two major concerns in China.

On Thursday Trump hardened his warning that North Korea's regime should be "very, very nervous" of the consequences if it ever thought of attacking U.S. soil, after nuclear-armed Pyongyang said it was readying plans to launch missiles towards the Pacific territory of Guam.

Begging China and Russian Federation to rescue the US from nuclear North Korea plays right into their hands by messaging our allies that the United States is helpless, that real power over North Korea is not in Washington, but in Beijing and Moscow.

The president of China said that this issue should be addressed through dialogue and negotiations, in order to achieve a political solution.
