TMZ reported on Friday that the Belorussian star, who split with former golf professional Billy McKeague in July, will skip the grand slam at Flushing Meadows later this month. TMZ is reporting that a judge told Azarenka that the child can not leave the state until the dispute is settled, and Azarenka is unwilling to leave the child with McKeague because she does not think he is capable of caring for him.

The lawyer also said that Victoria Azarenka offered to buy a plane ticket for McKeague and put him up in a hotel for the two-week US Open but the judge said no. Victoria Azarenka does not believe her ex-boyfriend is capable of caring for the eight-month-old baby. Azarenka reportedly has a valid custody order from Belarus, but the judge won't defer to the Belarus court.

Azarenka reached the fourth round of Wimbledon before withdrawing from last month's WTA event in Stanford, California, with a viral illness.

Azarenka is now ranked just 203rd in the world due to the amount of time she missed during her pregnancy.

Azarenka, a former world number one, is considered by some to be the favourite for the US Open - should she attend.
