But despite the chance to play Champions League football, Burke said the move was motivated by a desire to get more playing time under his belt.

West Bromwich Albion have signed Scotland global Oliver Burke from German side Red Bull Leipzig.

Barring another last minute change of heart, it seems as if Burke will join Albion, who have two wins out of as many games in the Premier League so far.

The Scottish global joins summer signings Gareth Barry, Jay Rodriguez, Zhang Yuning and Ahmed Hegazi in Tony Pulis' squad and will wear the number 17 shirt for the Baggies.

Burke became the most expensive Scottish player when he signed for Leipzig from Championship club Nottingham Forest for a reported £13 million (S$22 million) in August past year.

Burke is eligible to make his debut in Sunday's contest against Stoke City and spoke of his delight at completing a move.

"He's got a fantastic raw ability but he has also got the experience of going away from the comfort of his own area to a foreign country and experiencing life".

Ex-Nottingham Forest attacker Burke finished second in the Bundesliga with Leipzig after his £13 million move, but started just five of his 25 games in the German top-flight and scored once. "That will have broadened his horizons and been good for his development".

"Whether we put him on the bench we'll see".

It was a signing that caught many by surprise and understandably West Brom fans were very excited.
