Jay-Z paid tribute to the singer during his V Festival set Saturday night in the United Kingdom with a rare performance of "Numb/Encore".

Their friendship began when JAY and Linkin Park teamed up for Collision Course, a collaborative EP that mashed up both artists songs. Next month, JAY-Z is set to headline Philadelphia's Made In America Festival and New York's Meadows Music and Arts Festival, respectively, and the Austin City Limits Festival in October.

"Can you guys light it up tonight for Chester?" he asked the crowd. "Linkin Park, one time, tonight".

The 47-year old added: 'Make some noise so he can hear you in heaven'.

The Linkin Park frontman tragically died by suicide last month aged 41. The crowd at Staffordshire's Weston Park sang most of the lyrics themselves, with Jay gladly relegating himself to the hype man duties on the track, dropping ad-libs here and there. But the Roc Nation mogul made a vanglorious return to the stage with headlining performance at the 2017 V Festival in England on Saturday (Aug. 19).
