Dreamers, families and allies protest program's end — DACA

And he announced a similar, but much larger, program called Deferred Action for Parents of Americans - which would give the same protections as DACA to immigrants whose children were US citizens or permanent residents.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the administration's decision to end DACA, but said the program's termination would be delayed for six months, giving Congress time to establish a replacement program, though talking points circulated by the Trump administration suggest the time is also meant to give Dreamers time to self-deport.

Like Karen Reyes, a special education teacher who in an essay for this newspaper, said, "I grew up with your kids - and now I am teaching your kids". That's all it took?

"We would look into it. I'm not sure about the basis, but I'd look to the attorney general for advice". Permits will not begin to expire for another six months, and will remain active for up to 24 months. They did what they needed to do for us.

Both parties share culpability in getting to where we are today on immigration. And many studies have found that immigrants to not commit crimes at a higher rate than nonimmigrants. "It was just so weird and insulting".

They are college students, workers, nurses, lawyers and professionals. They're exposed for all to see.

"President Trump is yet again pandering to white supremacists over immigrant, black and poor communities", Tometi said.

The only "action" Trump has taken is to bar new DACA applications for six months, starting now.

There is no need to spook America. And it is something that he, as a black Dreamer, fears as well.

"'It's a political decision, and a moral question, ' Obama wrote". Moreover, if the people we used to think of as lawmakers fail to codify DACA, Trump says that he "will revisit this issue!"

Jonathan Green, one of the founders of immigration advocacy group the UndocuBlack Network, told the Nation that this is something black undocumented immigrants often hear.

He also reiterated his hope that Congress act.

Their stories are invariably American.

It is a betrayal of the American dream.

In a declaration of support for a multistate lawsuit that aims to block DACA's repeal, Amazon said at least nine of its employees are Dreamers.

Who speaks for them? The House and Senate have until March 5, 2018 to pass legislation to keep the Dreamers in the country.

Just who are these black Dreamers?

There's little doubt a lot of people have benefitted from the cheap labor illegal immigrants bring - but their undocumented children are essentially takers, not producers.

Does the government have DACA recipients' information?

As President, my highest duty is to defend the American people and the Constitution of the United States of America. Art of the deal, huh?

"Meanwhile, some Republicans such as conservative Sen. In the House, senior Republicans still believe there's a possible deal to be struck with Democrats: codifying DACA in return for Trump's sought-after border wall".

Hundreds showed up for the emergency rally to protest the Trump administration's decision to rescind DACA, short for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, which is an Obama-era program that lets undocumented immigrants brought here as children or teens before mid-2007 apply for protection from deportation, and a two-year work/study permit.

In fact, according to a 2015 study by the Migration Policy Institute, the face of illegal immigration is changing.

It is now time for Congress to act! Hopefully they'll come to some conclusion and do the right thing for the kids that are here. But the longer the immigration matter goes unsettled the more lives will be effected - and perhaps even wrecked.
