Pep Guardiola oversaw a spending spree in excess of £200 million during the summer transfer window, with City having taken 10 points from their opening four Premier League games this term.

"But the decision why he hasn't played this season and is not in the squad - he knows the reason why".

Khaldoon did not need convincing. Apparently, the injury seems to have a lasting effect on his career.

Simon is one of ESPN FC's Manchester City bloggers.

'But the decision was he didn't play the last game and today he's not in the squad.

Feyenoord's 100% start to the season continued on the weekend with a 4-2 away victory at Heracles.

After receiving Sadio Mane's boot to the face on Saturday, Man City goalkeeper Ederson Moraes has made a welcome return to training. "Of course it can happen but we will see", he said. "Guardiola consistently talks about how much time City need before being able to challenge".

It's an ideal working environment for Guardiola.

Silva is keen for his new team to strive for glory in the competition, but he concedes that they face a tough task.

Compare that to a club like PSG, where huge funds are being invested with an obvious expectation that Champions League success will follow, and you realise Guardiola may never experience such perfect conditions again.

As far as City's relationship with the Champions League goes, another tilt at the latter stages seems overdue. When they are fit, they want to play.

The 9/5 available on Betfair Sportsbook for City to win alongside Both Teams To Score should appeal but it may pay to play a safer bat and back aManchester City triumph with Over 2.5 Goals at 10/11, knowing Feyenoord are without their most potent striker.

Pressed on why Toure has stayed behind in Manchester, the Spaniard told reporters at Tuesday's press conference: "I spoke with him, he knows the reason why".

Feyenoord are the Dutch champions after their head coach, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, guided the club to a first league title since 1999.

"I would understand that [nervous] feeling, but in today's training session there were two or three long balls and he was there".

Asked if Toure can be expected to play a part in the coming weeks, Guardiola only muddied the waters further, adding: "Hopefully, it depends on him". After the game in the changing room he was speaking to the boys as if nothing had happened, which shows what character he has got.

Feyenoord have started their domestic season even better than City, with four straight wins that see them out in front of the pack in the Eredivisie.
