Justin Trudeau attends a Hockey event at Canadian High Commission

PM Narendra Modi discussed the situation in the Maldives with visiting Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

After their almost two-hour long meeting, Modi, while addressing a joint media event with the Canadian prime minister, said they discussed the entire gamut of the bilateral partnership.

The move by the Indian Prime Minister caused a lot of stir in the national and worldwide media.

Earlier, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj called on the Canadian Prime Minister and discussed various issues of mutual interest.

Observing that Trudeau has visited various parts of India in last few days, Modi said the Canadian leader must have experienced the diversity of the country.

'I hope PM @JustinTrudeau and his family had a very enjoyable stay so far. I look forward to continuing the dialogue and building a lasting friendship with him,"Gandhi tweeted after the meeting".

In the talks, Modi also brought up the issue of a Sikh group based in Canada that is strengthening ties with separatists in India.

Besides Gandhi, former union minister and senior Congress leader Anand Sharma was also present during the meeting with Trudeau. I appreciate his deep commitment to ties between our two countries'.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau inspected the guard of honour at Rashtrapati Bhawan and warmly received by Prime Minister Modi.

On the sidelines of the event, Prime Minister Trudeau played Cricket in Delhi with retired star Cricketers: Kapil Dev and Mohammad Azharuddin.

Gandhi also met Trudeaus wife and children during his meeting. Modi and Trudeau also discussed the humanitarian and security crisis in Rakhine State of Myanmar and across the border in Bangladesh.
