Top of the English Premier League since early November, Chelsea can complete its serene march to the title by picking up three points over its next three games, the first of which is at West Bromwich Albion on Friday.

Conte and his players will have a coveted Double in mind as they play London rivals in the FA Cup final at Wembley on May.

Following their title win in 2014-15 under Jose Mourinho, this was meant to be a new era of dominance for the Blues under the famed "Special One" in his second stint at the Bridge.

Cahill admits the players vowed to make amends and said: "It's a motivation we have had - tasting disappointment previous year and not wanting to be anywhere near that again".

"I repeat what I said before, I have a contract, two years with Chelsea, but also I like to repeat for me and my players is to be focused in the moment, the moment is very important".

"I think we're doing a really good job, but I want this job to become great and then fantastic. To win in England is not easy", Conte said.

"They're a wonderful team and they've been the best". We deserve it. We've worked hard. They'll need a bigger squad ready to challenge on all fronts but they don't need to break up this team.

Second choice goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has only made one appearance in the league and so won't win a medal, the same as Nathan Ake, despite being brought back from loan in January from Bournemouth.

I wanted it so badly this year, along with everybody else.We didn't want the feeling we had last year.

Chelsea, as champion, won't start the season under the radar like it did last August " the telling statistic remains that no team has retained the title since Manchester United in 2009.

Moments later, West Brom were a bit fortunate when Eden Hazard's cross from the end line deflected toward goal by Chris Brunt, only to be cleared off the line.

"No one remembers the punter given that it was placed so long ago, however, we expect they will be knocking on our door tomorrow", said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.

Hazard still has ambitions to be voted as victor of the Ballon d'Or, the award for the world's best player.
