The Boston Celtics host the Cleveland in Game 5 of the NBA Eastern Conference finals Thursday night at TD Bank Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. Central (8:30 p.m. Eastern). The big star for the Giants that year was future Yankees manager Casey Stengel, who hit an inside-the-park homer in the ninth inning to win Game 1 and drove in the only run in Game 3 with another homer.

With James leading the way, the Cleveland Cavaliers have correspondingly been more dominant during the playoffs than they were during a somewhat inconsistent regular season.

Cleveland can close out the series Thursday night in Boston, and it'll be the first time since 2015 that LeBron James is playing a close-out game in Beantown.

Trailing previous record-holder Michael Jordan by 27points before the game, James made his mark as the new scoring leader in National Basketball Association playoffs history with a triple at the 2:35 mark of the period as Cleveland led 103-71.

"When the fans at the end of the game were [chanting "Let's go Celtics"] - man, it's just awesome".

The Cavs' "Big Three" were strongly backed by their reserves.

Boston shot 47 percent from the field and 35 percent from the 3-point line in the first half of Game 4 on their way to building as much as a 16-point lead. Cleveland limited the Celtics to 41 percent from the field and 29 percent from beyond the arc.

"Honestly, I don't really care who we play", Lacob said, per The Mercury News, after the Warriors swept the Spurs. "We have to execute offensively".

As has been the case when the Cavaliers have played their best basketball, they used their defense to generate offense. "Two great teams, great players, and that's what it is".

Everyone will have one eye on Irving's left ankle.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are heading somewhere they are very familiar with. They won't take Boston lightly today and LeBron should have a monster game after coming out flat on Sunday. The Celtics are also guarding against ending their season by having to watch the Cavs celebrate a conference title on their home floor.

Boston Celtics All-Star point guard Isaiah Thomas says he must wait until the swelling subsides in his injured right hip before determining his rehabilitation plan but noted that surgery is not now the top option.

Irving piled on 21 points in the third period as Cleveland turned their 10-point half-time deficit into an 87-80 lead at the end of the third quarter.

It's an indication that despite still being in a dire 3-1 hole, the resolve inside Boston's locker room remains strong. "But we're going to enjoy this for a couple more days before we have to lock in on that juggernaut out west". I wore short shorts so you could see my undershorts underneath.

The first matchup of this trilogy started with one of the most memorable in 1954.

"Everyone wants to say, 'Ah man, this is boring and this, that and the other, ' but you usually don't appreciate something until you don't have it anymore", Draymond Green said. "We match up well with them, and I think they'd say the same about us".

I'm the only one who thinks the Cavs are going to win, so of course I'm going with LeBron for MVP. And it's making us tougher. "And Brad's (Stevens) got them moving and cutting and playing with pace and everybody is a threat".
