However, Monaco owner Vadim Vasilyev has reportedly had enough of selling for one summer, meaning Arsenal may now be forced to abandon their pursuit of Lemar and look elsewhere as Arsene Wenger attempts to build a squad capable of returning the Gunners to the Champions League.

Sanchez was due to report for pre-season training on Sunday, having been given extended leave following worldwide duty for Chile at the Confederations Cup.

The Chile worldwide has entered the final year of his contract at Emirates Stadium, with an expiring deal having sparked exit talk for some time now.

Arsenal signed previous club-record Mesut Ozil for £42.4m on deadline day in September 2013 so Wenger insists the club will be looking for any deals at any time. The 28-year-old posted photos on his social media account which depicted that he was unwell, leaving Arsene Wenger to clarify that the Chilean remained in homeland and will travel as soon as he is well enough.

The Sun however reports that the club is not sure he will return after he posted an Instagram selfie claiming to be "sick" and his representatives then saying he has flu.

No deal has been done, though, and Upson believes that could be because Sanchez has offered Arsenal hope that a compromise could be reached regarding his future.

"Kolasinac has gone from strength to strength in pre-season", Wenger said. For me, it's a no-brainer.

"The players were thinking 'what's going on and what's happening?', so it creates uncertainty because it's a global policy".

Arsenal will face Benfica and Sevilla in the Emirates Cup friendly competition over the weekend before facing Chelsea in the Community Shield on August 6. "It happens time and time again at Arsenal".
