Apple extends first-generation Apple Watch service policy

Apple will authorize coverage for three (3) years from the date of purchase. It means that if you bought the watch in April 2015, then it will be eligible for free repairs until April 2018.

NordVPNApple has determined that under certain conditions on some Apple Watch (1st generation) devices the back cover may separate from the watch case.

Apple has reportedly extended the service policy on first-generation Apple Watches for three extra years from the original purchase date.

It's worth noting that this service policy change affects all models of the first-generation Apple Watch, including Sport and Hermès iterations.

If you have been experiencing the back panel separation issue on your Apple Watch, then you can call an Apple Store or visit an Apple Authorized Service Provider to apply for a free fix. If your Apple Watch has come apart you can make a Genius Bar appointment, visit an authorized service provider, or contact Apple Support to request a fix. "Yesterday it came apart taking it off the charger". Basically, if your Apple Watch is experiencing some odd hardware issues, make sure you ask about a free fix.

Apple advises customers inquiring about a refund for a previous Apple Watch back cover fix to contact Apple Support.
