According to reports, Simon Cowell is allegedly desperate to use the castle when he does his judges homes round later this year.

The castle used for the popular drama is called Highclere Castle in Highclere and is reportedly being spied by Simon because he's keen to change things up and do something a little different this year.

They continued: "They loved the idea". They think it would be great fun to have Simon sweeping down the grand drive in a vintage Rolls Royce to greet contestants.

"They would of course hire a team of butlers to wait on him and the contestants", the insider added of how they're already planning to play up the judges rich and mean persona.

Meanwhile, Simon is on a mission to save the show from getting the chop after last year's viewing figures were a flop, so has also chose to change the location of the auditions, reduce the amount of novelty acts and slash the running plan. "At the moment that is their number one choice". "X Factor" boss Simon Cowell crashed a golf buggy into a gift shop at Thorpe Park during a break in filming. They are doing the Thorpe Park auditions early on, too, because producers think the unconventional location will create some amusing footage. A source recently explained: "Singers will perform on both Saturday and Sunday evenings, with acts being eliminated both nights".

"They want to get shots of the judges on white-knuckle rides", the source said previously of the decision to hold auditions in the unusual location. It obviously makes some sense given that both shows are from the same network, and that Downton Abbey is arguably one of the most famous British series around the world these days save for Doctor Who.
