Roque Mesa is his name, central-defending is his game and he last found gainful employ at La Liga side Las Palmas.

After completing his signing, Mesa said: "I'm very happy to be here".

Mesa is Swansea's third signing this summer after Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham joined on a season-long loan and goalkeeper Erwin Mulder signed on a free transfer.

Mesa told Swansea's official site: "It's a small promise with my wife because I told her I wouldn't shave my moustache until I get a called up by the Spanish national team". I'll try to make the team play.

He spent seven seasons with Las Palmas and helped the Canary Islands club win promotion to La Liga in 2015. "The manager is a person who knows how to play and that's something I really like".

"Mesa does seem like your typical Swansea player though, not great in stature at just 5'7" but he is a superb passer and will likely start at the base of Swansea's midfielder diamond.

Meanwhile, Sevilla captain Vicente Iborra has concluded his move to Leicester City, signing a four-year contract with the Premier League club.

"He met his new team-mates at Fairwood (training ground) on Wednesday, while he will train for the first time on Monday after returning from Spain."

Mesa, who was born in Telde, Gran Canaria adds to the Swans' midfield options, and is looking forward to the challenge ahead at SA1.
